March 5, 2025, Stockholm, Sweden — Volvo Cars officially unveiled its all-new electric flagship sedan Volvo ES90 at Stockholm City Hall. Built on the SPA2 pure-electric architecture, the ES90 integrates cutting-edge technologies including an 800V high-voltage platform and dual NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Orin chips, setting new benchmarks for mid-to-large luxury electric vehicles with a CLTC range of 740km (equivalent to ~700km NEDC) and an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.25cd.
 

Design Innovation: Scandinavian Minimalism Meets Aerodynamics

The ES90 continues Volvo's iconic Scandinavian design philosophy, featuring a closed grille paired with integrated Thor's Hammer headlights and a chrome-accented brand emblem. The coupe-like fastback design achieves a drag coefficient of 0.25cd (0.02cd better than Mercedes-Benz EQS), while a 15mm ride height increase provides SUV-level visibility. Seven exterior colors (including exclusive "Aurora Silver") and four wheel options (20-22 inches, with aerodynamically optimized 22-inch rims) are available.
 
At the rear, Viking Axe C-shaped taillights with sequential lighting create dynamic welcome/exit animations. The 424L trunk (expandable to 733L with seats folded) and 22L frunk meet long-distance travel needs.
   

Intelligent Technology: 508TOPS Computing + LiDAR Ensures Safety

As Volvo's first dual NVIDIA Orin X model, the ES90 deploys 1 LiDAR (1550nm wavelength) + 5 radars + 7 cameras + 12 ultrasonic sensors, offering 200m detection range and 360° coverage. The DUS driver monitoring system uses capacitive steering wheel and infrared camera for fatigue detection with three-level alerts.
 
The cockpit features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295-powered 14.5-inch vertical touchscreen (2560×1600 resolution) supporting 5G connectivity and OTA updates. Standard equipment includes 4-zone climate control with PM2.5 filter, while the optional Bowers & Wilkins 25-speaker audio system (with headrest speakers) offers Dolby Atmos and Abbey Road Studios tuning.

Three powertrain options are available:

Market Strategy: European Pre-orders Open, China Sales Start March 15

The ES90 is now available for pre-order in Europe, with China pre-sales launching March 15. Interior options include pine/wool blend (eco-friendly) or Nappa leather, complemented by a standard panoramic glass roof (99.9% UV protection) and HUD (equivalent 25-inch projection).
