On the morning of October 29, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra prototype set a new lap record for four-door cars at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Later that evening, the production version of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra went up for pre-sale at a price of 814,900 yuan, and within just 10 minutes, over 3,680 orders were placed. This rapid success has put significant pressure on the ZEEKR 001 FR, a highly similar electric performance car, which officially launched in October 2023 with a starting price of 769,000 yuan. Recently, the ZEEKR 001 FR also set a new record for the fastest production car at the Shanghai International Circuit. Both the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and the ZEEKR 001 FR are pure electric performance cars, and their impressive track records have caught everyone's attention. So, what makes the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra so expensive, and what advantages does the ZEEKR 001 FR have? Let’s take a quick look at the highlights of both cars.


    Starting with the exterior, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra features a bold front design with an oversized front scoop and air dam kit. It also includes matching U-shaped air blades on both sides, painted in the same color as the body, which help increase front downforce. The central air intake grille is further enlarged, improving airflow and enhancing the vehicle's cooling performance. The front badge and headlamps have a smoked finish, and the central part of the front hood is accentuated with silver paint.

The ZEEKR 001 FR, on the other hand, sports a carbon fiber windbreaker front lip, which also increases the air intake area. The front end is equipped with air vents on both sides to dissipate brake heat. Daytime running lights are positioned on either side of the front hood, and the smoked headlamp clusters feature a striking cut-through design. Both vehicles are equipped with LiDAR sensors mounted above the roof, enhancing their intelligent driving assistance capabilities.

Moving to the sides, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra features carbon fiber trim on the side skirts, roof, and exterior mirrors. It rides on 21-inch wheels, paired with carbon ceramic brake discs and Akebono yellow front 6-piston and rear 4-piston calipers. The ZEEKR 001 FR has a more flowing side profile, with a carbon-fiber side-skirt air separator to direct airflow away from under the car. It is fitted with 22-inch smoked wheels, Brembo oversized carbon ceramic perforated discs, and red AP Racing forged aluminum calipers, boasting 10 pistons in the front and 4 in the rear. The additional pistons provide more even force distribution and improve braking stability.

At the rear, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra features a large carbon-fiber fixed spoiler, with a smoked rear logo and a silver-finished boot lid that complements the front design. The ZEEKR 001 FR has a hatchback-style tailgate with a similarly large tailfin, and the taillight clusters are designed to mirror the front headlamps, creating a cohesive aesthetic across both ends of the car.


   As for the interior, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra features a yellow and black interior colour scheme, with carbon fibre covering a number of details such as the steering wheel, door panels, centre control panel and seat backs. Equipped with 7.1-inch full LCD gauges and a 16.1-inch floating centre control screen with a resolution of 3K, the car is equipped with the Xiaomi HyperOS in-vehicle intelligence system with a built-in Snapdragon 8295 in-vehicle intelligence chip, which makes the car's responsiveness smooth and easy to operate.The interior design of the ZEEKR 001 FR is based on a red and black palette, with a large area of Alcantara material cladding and the carbon fibre is used for accents. The full LCD instrumentation measures 13.02 inches with a 15.05-inch centre screen with a resolution of 2.5K, and is equipped with the ZEEKR OS in-car intelligence system, which also has a built-in Snapdragon 8295 in-car intelligence chip, and has good smoothness and functionality.

   As for the seats, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with yellow and black sports seats made of leather and tumbled leather, and ‘Ultra’ English logo is added on the backrest of the front seats. Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with two V8s motors with a maximum power of 425kW and a maximum torque of 635N-m, and a V6s motor with a maximum power of 288kW and a maximum torque of 500N-m. The system's combined maximum power is 1,138kW, and the zero-hundredths acceleration time is just 1.98 seconds, with a top speed of 350km/h. In terms of range, Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with a Ningde Times Kirin II Li-ion battery pack with a capacity of 93kWh. is equipped with a 93.7kWh capacity Ningde Times Kirin II Li-ion ternary battery pack, supporting a maximum 5.2C charging multiplier, with a peak voltage of 897V, and a CLTC pure electric range of up to 630km.

The range is equipped with CTP3.0 ternary lithium batteries from the era of Geely, the battery capacity of 100kWh, CLTC pure electric range of 550km.

     Both vehicles have a fast charging time of 0.18 hours for the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and 0.25 hours for the ZEEKR 001 FR in terms of fast replenishment from 10% to 80% charge.

    As a pure electric performance vehicle, the vehicle's cooling system is a point of concern. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra's self-developed cooling system can achieve a maximum heat dissipation of up to 2.7 million joules per minute, with a total cooling power of 45kW, a larger cooling area under the same volume, a 30°C reduction in the maximum temperature, and a comprehensive cooling efficiency of more than 50 per cent.ZEEKR 001 FR is equipped with a PTM 2.0 full-area thermal management system, which has a cooling capacity of about 3 hp of household air conditioning cooling power. The ZEEKR 001 FR is equipped with the PTM 2.0 Total Thermal Management System, which has a cooling capacity equivalent to that of a 3-horsepower household air-conditioner, and not only helps to cool the battery and motor system during extreme driving, but also improves the efficiency of heat utilisation.


  For the chassis, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is equipped with a closed dual-chamber air spring system that supports independent adjustment of stiffness and height. In addition, an optional Beechcraft EVO T1 stranded shock absorber is also available to further enhance the handling performance. These high-tech features and tuning functions make the car suitable not only for everyday driving, but also for direct track use in its factory condition. The ZEEKR 001 FR is equipped with KW high-performance stranded shock absorbers with 12-speed compression/16-speed rebound damping, which can lower the car body by up to 35mm. In addition, the vehicle is equipped with functions such as ejection start, tank turnaround and overclocking mode, of which the overclocking mode can be activated at any speed, and the maximum power of the vehicle will be increased by 10% after activation.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra supports L2-level intelligent driver assistance through the Xiaomi Pilot system. It is equipped with two built-in NVIDIA Orin-X chips, 1 LiDAR sensor, 12 ultrasonic radars, and 3 millimeter-wave radars. These technologies enable features such as full-speed adaptive cruise, lane-keeping, automatic lane change assistance, and active safety warnings.

Similarly, the ZEEKR 001 FR offers L2-level intelligent driving assistance through the ZEEKR AD system. It also features two NVIDIA Orin-X chips, 1 LiDAR sensor, and a more advanced array of 20 ultrasonic radars and 5 millimeter-wave radars. The core functionalities are essentially the same as those of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. Both vehicles also offer additional optional features, including automatic on-ramp entry/exit and navigation support for city and highway sections.

The performance parameters of the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra's three-motor system are able to surpass the four-motor of the ZEEKR 001 FR, and even rival many multi-million-dollar supercars, thanks to the technological research and development behind it and the not-so-expensive cost of materials.
