Recently, the Xiaomi HyperOS 1.2.8 version OTA upgrade was launched. This upgrade introduced an outdoor wake-up defense function, enhanced intelligent driving features, and optimized the efficiency and safety of city navigation assistance.
Outdoor wake-up refers to the ability to wake up the in-car voice assistant by shouting commands from outside the car when the central control is powered on, the car is locked, and the windows are closed, especially when close to the window seam. Using voice commands to open the car window or trunk in this manner can pose significant safety risks.

In the OTA upgrade, Xiaomi's HyperOS Smart Cockpit added the "outside car wake-up defense" function, which automatically suppresses voice wake-up commands from outside the car when the vehicle is in P gear, the central control is locked, and the doors and windows are closed.
Xiaomi Auto explained that, currently, any car equipped with a voice assistant can experience an outdoor wake-up scenario. This issue arises because the car's wake-up model cannot distinguish whether the voice command originates from inside or outside the vehicle.
Forcing the model to make this distinction would negatively impact the in-car wake-up experience. This is especially challenging when there is no external microphone on the car, making it difficult to judge, which is a common issue in the industry.
Initially, the Xiaomi SU7 used a traditional algorithm that relied on the flatness characteristics of the high-frequency part of the voice signal to differentiate between in-car and out-of-car wake-up. This method could prevent 70% to 80% of normal speech outside the car from waking up the voice assistant. After conducting several rounds of comparative tests, the Xiaomi Auto team found that this approach already placed the SU7 among the industry's top performers.
Subsequently, Xiaomi Auto developed a more advanced out-of-car wake-up defense system using Xiaomi's self-developed large-scale sound model. Combined with a voice control permission strategy, this system achieved a suppression rate of up to 99%, significantly reducing the likelihood of someone outside the car using voice commands to open the windows when the car is locked.
