From a chassis perspective, the BYD Qin L shows improvements over the previous BYD Qin PLUS. It adopts the BYD Yuan PLUS solution, replacing the torsion beam independent suspension with a four-link independent suspension. Although the materials used are average and lack aluminum alloy, the quality is still acceptable.
Compared with the previous BYD Qin PLUS, what are the improvements?
Compared to the previous BYD Qin PLUS, the rear suspension of the BYD Qin L noticeably stabilizes the body more effectively. The suspension's initial absorption of vibrations is also notably active and soft, avoiding any harsh sensations. This represents a significant improvement.
What are the shortcomings?
However, there are some shortcomings. For example, during high-speed driving over uneven terrain, the vehicle may exhibit a tendency to bounce up and then slam down. The roll amplitude during emergency lane changes is relatively large, and the vehicle takes some time to recover fully from the roll, often requiring multiple corrections. Additionally, the steering remains somewhat sluggish, and the yaw response at the front of the car is not very clear.
Despite these issues, these observations are based on our chassis experience and do not necessarily mean the model isn't worth buying. At a price of $14,000, even a model with a solid chassis like the Geely Galaxy L6 still falls short compared to the BYD Qin L. Furthermore, considering that the BYD Qin L is positioned similarly to Japanese B-class cars but costs only 30% of their price, it offers excellent value.
