At this year's Beijing Auto Show, FAW Hongqi announced three new categories: sunflower, energy-saving vehicles and new energy, of which the new energy category has already changed to a new youthful design style (e.g. EHS7). For the Red Flag brand, there is still a need for products with business-oriented attributes, such as the HS7 PHEV that we test-drove today, which continues the design of the fuel car, but has more application scenarios with the support of the electric motor, and which was put up  for pre-sale on 11th July at a price of 315,800-345,800 RMB, so let's take a look at the driving experience together.

The Hongqi HS7 PHEV's plug-in system offers "4 engines and 8 modes", which means pure electric front drive, pure electric rear drive, direct engine drive, and hybrid drive, etc. Of course, this is all controlled by the computer, so we just need to choose our own more adaptable driving modes. This time I mainly on the comfort mode and sports mode experience, hybrid mode default intelligent, I believe this is also consumers in the daily use of high frequency mode.

The Comfort mode is basically the main mode in the city, which is very suitable for daily use, not only the power output is soft, but also the energy recovery is relatively moderate. If you choose Economy mode, the accelerator pedal will be a bit sluggish, and the energy recovery will also increase, so if you don't need to save energy urgently, it's not recommended to rely on Economy mode. It's also worth noting that the hongqi HS7 PHEV's engine intervention is so slight that you can't feel the vibration at all, and it's hard to feel its presence unless you're listening to the sound. Next we went to a mountain road, and I also briefly experienced its Sport mode.

As you can see from the pictures, our test drive took us on a very long stretch of unpaved road, where the hongqi HS7 PHEV showed off its chassis qualities. Although the low-end model we drove is not equipped with variable damping suspension, but we can still feel that it absorbs most of the vibration on the road, and it also has a good rebound damping, so in the continuous bumpy road will not feel like a boat, very tough.

In fact, the overall test drive experience of the Red Flag HS7 PHEV is still relatively close to that of the Hongqi HS7, except that thanks to the addition of the electric motor, it offers stronger acceleration, lower energy consumption, and greater quietness in the 20-80km/h speed range.
