On May 28th, BYD Auto officially announced the guiding price of its new medium-sized sedan - Qin L. The new car is equipped with the latest fifth-generation DM system (about the launch of the technical explanation you click here), CLTC working condition pure electric range of 80km and 120km, NEDC working condition loss of electric fuel consumption is only 2.9L /100km, full fuel and full power combined range of 2100km. The new car on the market has five models to choose from according to different configurations, with a price range of 99,800-139,800 yuan.
New car features
As the newest member of the Qin family, the BYD Qin L adopts the ‘New National Wave Dragon Face Aesthetics’, with a delicate front face and a large bottom grille, making the overall appearance more atmospheric. The headlights are narrow and sharp, and the upward-pointing luminous ‘dragon whiskers’ blend together to make the overall appearance more spiritual.
From the side view of the body, its waistline runs from the front wing panel to the rear door, making the body more slender. Its slinky design adds some dynamism to the overall stability and atmosphere. We also see that the new car adopts the traditional door handle design.
At the rear, the wider rear shoulder wrap-around design not only echoes the front face, but also increases the muscularity of the silhouette. Meanwhile, the car adopts a penetrating tail light shape inspired by Chinese knots, which pulls in recognition. It is worth mentioning that it applies a simplified BYD tail badge, and this tail badge can also be illuminated.
As for the dimensions of the model, its length, width and height are 4830/1900/1495mm, and the wheelbase is 2790mm, which is located in the medium-sized car. As a comparison, the body dimensions of the current Qin PLUS model on sale are 4765/1837/1495mm, with a wheelbase of 2718mm, so it can be said that the Qin L is overall bigger than the Qin PLUS by a circle. It's also worth mentioning that its rear suspension has been upgraded from the Qin PLUS' torsion beam to an E-type multi-link independent suspension. The Qin L DM-i is available in four exterior colours: Ice Cherry Green, Jian Kiln Purple, Run Yu White and Tea Crystal Grey.
Interior, Qin L interior design inspired by Chinese landscape painting, the overall centre control panel adopts a one-piece design, looks more atmospheric. The new car adopts embedded large-size LCD instrument with 15.6-inch rotatable centre control screen, and the new style of three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and wireless mobile phone charging and other configurations add a certain sense of technology to meet the needs of the current users of the car. The new car is equipped with DiLink Intelligent Cockpit, which combines 15.6-inch adaptive rotating suspended Pad, on-board ETC, mobile phone NFC car key, full-scene intelligent voice and other configurations, and is 100% compatible with the mobile phone ecology, and the new car is equipped with on-board ETC and NFC car key as standard in the whole series.
In terms of power, one of the major upgrades of the new car is the adoption of the latest DM5.0 system, which is also BYD's latest hybrid technology. This plug-in hybrid system consists of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor, with the engine producing 74 kW of maximum power, the engine producing 126 N-m of maximum torque, and the motor being offered in two power levels.
The new car is equipped with BYD's blade battery (lithium iron phosphate), offering two versions for consumers to choose from, with the lower version equipped with a 10.08kWh battery, a 120kW/210N-m motor, and a CLTC range of 80km. the higher version is fitted with a 15.874kWh battery, a motor with a maximum power of 160kW/260N-m, and a CLTC range of 120km. Thanks to the highest thermal efficiency of 46.06% of the fifth-generation DM technology platform engine, the Qin L DM-i consumes only 2.9L/100km under NEDC conditions, with a combined range of 2,100km on a full tank of fuel and a full charge.
Qin L DM-i is fully equipped with DiPilot intelligent driver assistance system, including ACC adaptive cruise control, ICC intelligent navigation, LDW lane departure warning, LDP lane departure suppression, etc., together with 4-probe rear reversing radar and 3D panoramic transparent image.
