On May 21, the BAIC BJ60 Extended Range Edition (Magic Core Electric Drive Edition) officially rolled off the production line, marking the official launch of a new development pattern of "dual petrol and electric drive" for Beijing Off-Road. The new car offers two seat layout options, 5-seater and 7-seater, and is equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine and a range-extended hybrid power system. The new car is expected to be launched in June.
In terms of appearance, the front face design of the BJ60 extended-range version is simpler, eliminating the iconic three "U"-shaped grille style. In addition, the car also adopts a completely black design, combined with a simpler grille shape and headlight group shape, making the whole car more fashionable. In terms of body size, its length, width and height are 5040/1955/1925mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2820mm.
On the side of the body, the new car still adopts the classic hard-core SUV shape, with a straight waistline running throughout, and the front and rear fenders are slightly wider than the body, creating a good sense of muscle. The taillights of the new car continue the design style of the family model. The split taillight groups are located on both sides of the body, which plays a good embellishment role. The tailgate uses a side-opening method, which makes it easier to open the tailgate to a certain extent. It is also equipped with an external spare tire.
In terms of interior, the BJ60 extended-range version shows a certain sense of technology, including a full LCD instrument panel, dual central control and passenger screens, and physical buttons related to off-road aspects are retained behind the gearbox.
The BJ60 extended range version is equipped with a self-stabilizing integrated range extender assembly provided by BAIC Power. This system is the first range extender product of BAIC Power's new energy transformation. It adopts a direct connection design between the engine and the generator. It has a compact structure and high power generation. The new car will be equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine and a range-extended hybrid system. The rated power is 90kW and the peak power can reach 115kW, which can provide stable power output with high efficiency. The comprehensive fuel consumption is only 1.3L/100km, and the range on full fuel and full battery exceeds 1,200km. In terms of battery, it will use nickel-cobalt-manganese ternary lithium battery.
