On September 27th, Li Auto completed the delivery of its 500,000th vehicle at its delivery center in Shunyi district, Beijing city. The significant vehicle is a Li L7, the company's family-oriented five-seater flagship SUV.
In just 46 months since its official delivery debut at the end of 2019, Li Auto has achieved this significant milestone, establishing itself as the first Chinese new energy vehicle startup to reach the 500,000-unit delivery mark. From January to August 2023, Li Auto's cumulative delivery volume reached an impressive 208,165 vehicles.
At the Auto Shanghai 2023, Li Auto unveiled its two-pronged strategy to make a comprehensive push in both "intelligence" and "electricity."
In terms of intelligence, Li Auto has expanded its smart driving capabilities into the realms of city NOA (Navigation on Autopilot) and commute NOA. These initiatives have seen beta testing among Li Auto users. The company has taken significant steps by introducing a city NOA solution that operates independently of high-definition maps. Furthermore, Li Auto launched the commute NOA product to ensure that even without high-definition maps, users can enjoy seamless coverage on their frequently traveled routes, regardless of the city's scale.
In addition, Li Auto aims to provide a smooth transition between highway and city driving by utilizing its large-model algorithm architecture, significantly enhancing the highway NOA features on the AD Max and AD Pro platforms.
Regarding electrification, Li Auto has set ambitious goals for widespread electric vehicle adoption. The company has introduced a pure electric solution focusing on the 5C Qilin battery, an 800V high-voltage platform, and 5C supercharging facilities. By the end of this month, Li Auto plans to complete construction of 100 supercharging stations, covering popular road-trip routes. By the end of this year, Li Auto's supercharging network is expected to expand to 300 stations nationwide, covering four major economic belts: Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Chengdu-Chongqing region.
Li Auto has also shown a commitment to continuous improvement in its product offerings. Since the launch of the Li series, the company has rolled out 16 OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates, involving 237 new features and 164 optimizations. The latest update, OTA 4.6, places a significant focus on the intelligent cockpit. Among the exciting additions is the much-anticipated feature of dialect recognition, allowing Lixiang Tongxue (a smarter virtual voice assistant) to understand various regional dialects in addition to the standard Mandarin, including Cantonese, Sichuanese, and Henan dialect. Moreover, the new multimodal "saying upon seeing" feature enables users to select their desired video content through voice commands.
Looking ahead on the product front, Li Auto's family-focused all-electric flagship MPV, the Li MEGA, is set to be officially launched in December of this year, with deliveries to commence in February of the following year.
