Chery's mass-produced version of the eQ7, a midsize pure electric SUV, officially rolled off the assembly line on July 12. The vehicle is built on Chery's aluminum-based lightweight electric platform.
The "eQ7" is currently a temporary name, and the official name will be determined through a naming campaign, said the automaker.
In terms of dimensions, the new car measures 4,675mm in length, 1,910mm in width, 1,660mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,830mm.
Inside the cabin, the instrument cluster and central control touchscreen of the eQ7 adopt a dual-screen setup with seamless integration. The vehicle is equipped with Chery's latest infotainment system, incorporating advanced artificial intelligence and connected vehilce technologies. It offers various intelligent functions such as voice interaction, facial recognition, and advanced driver assistance.
Powering the eQ7 is a rear-wheel-drive layout with a 155-kW oil-cooled flat-wire three-in-one motor. It can reach a top speed of 180 km/h and is equipped with a 67.12 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a real driving range of 512 km.
Notably, the eQ7 rides on Chery's aluminum-based lightweight platform, the S5X, utilizing advanced processes such as integrated die-casting. The lightweight aluminum alloy body structure reduces the vehicle's weight by 30%, resulting in a curb weight of around 1.8 tonnes. The platform showcases outstanding performance in terms of body strength and range compared to its peers, said Chery Auto.
Based on the Yaoguang 2025 technology, Chery Group planned out two major pure electric vehicle platforms. One is the E0X platform, and the other is the newly unveiled aluminum-based lightweight electric platform, the S5X. Chery defines the S5X platform as China's first aluminum-based lightweight platform, specifically designed for pure electric vehicles.
